This Notgeld represented the 3rd denomination of a 3-piece set, issued by the spa city of Lauchstedt. Notably this Notgeld was issued during the German Revolution (1918-1919). Although unlike the much simpler revolution-era notes issued by the city of Schwabach. This note features complex artwork, with decorative embellishments.
Which allows us modern day observers, to admire the local landmarks depicted. Although fortunately such admires of German history, much of Lauchstedt's landmarks have survived to modern times. To pay tribute to the city's famous spa, this note will be reviewed reverse first.
Reverse
The reverse center features an impressive illustration of the famous Bad Lauchstedt spa. The title on lower right roughly reads, "Healing spring (spa) in the 1800s". Giving the viewer/bearer a rough idea of the period depicted. The header and footer text simply reads, "Bad Lauchstedt" on stylized black and dull gold letters.
At each of the reverse's corners are diamond patterns. Each containing a black number "50" on a dull gold background, at its center. Each corner of the diamond contains a smaller dull gold diamond. Which divide blue section containing the word "Pfennig", notifying the bear of the note's value.
Observe
The observe features a frame illustration of the Lauchstedt Rathaus (Town Hall), which still stands to this day. The artist credit at the upper left reads, "F. Kirschmann, Leipzig". Just as the reverse the note's "50 Pfennig" is listed on the note's corners.
The divided text along the left-right sides and the footer. List the note as a "Voucher (of the) City of Lauchstedt". At the upper center is the seal of the "Lauchstedt (City) Magistrate". The twin "19"s flanking the seal represent the note's issue date "1919". Further outward are a pair of signatures, representing the city magistrate.
